You’ll complete two to three training placements during the programme. You’ll discover the wide-ranging world of telecommunications at SBB and gain experience in the fields of customer, product and service management, architecture and engineering and in the development of our services and technologies.

You’ll also work on projects and take on tasks in our challenging activities. The Career Starter programme provides insight into the entire telecoms system and its various roles such as product management, engineering and operational functions.

You’ll be well equipped to take up a challenging role as a specialist/engineer or servant leader within telecommunications.

Start and duration.

The programme starts in April and September and lasts 9 to 12 months. You can decide on your level of employment (between 60 and 100 percent). This means you enjoy enough leisure time outside of work.

You either hold a Bachelor's/Master's degree (Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, university or university of applied sciences) in IT or electrical/telecoms/industrial engineering with a flair for business or a degree in business administration. 

You have a strong interest in telecommunications/IT, business administration, the rail system and mobility of the future. You’re eager to learn, a good team player and think in a joined-up way. You speak German fluently while a good command of English and a second Swiss national language are advantageous.

Remuneration.

You’ll receive an attractive full-time starting salary of CHF 80,000 a year.

At SBB, you have pension fund insurance if your annual income is CHF 3,000 or more. This means you will benefit from attractive pension fund benefits.

You’ll get a 2nd class GA Travelcard and five weeks’ holiday for the entire training period. You can also take advantage of additional individual training programmes, such as language courses, time abroad and specific certifications.

How you benefit.

Over the course of your various training placements, you’ll gain knowledge and experience in your chosen specialist field and apply it directly. You’ll also complete our introduction programme with the opportunity to expand your specialist knowledge in specific courses.

Coaching.

A personal coach will accompany you throughout your Career Starter Programme and help you to settle in at the company, to choose the best training programmes and to find the right placements for you.

Network building.

As you will be working on projects in various departments, you will be able to build up a large network and become part of the SBB Young Talents community.

Permanent position.

The Career Starter programme will have you perfectly prepared for a permanent position at SBB.
