Kathrin Amacker to leave SBB.

Kathrin Amacker has decided to leave her position as a member of SBB’s management board and head of Communications, Policy and Sustainability at the end of March. In the future, she wishes to focus on positions on boards of directors and in associations.

Given the upcoming change of CEO and next phase in SBB’s strategy, Kathrin Amacker considers it to be the right time to take the next step in her career, which she is well prepared for thanks to her further education.

As Head of Communications, Kathrin Amacker played a central role in shaping the celebrations that marked the opening and taking into service of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016, a once-in-a-century project. Her time on SBB’s board also coincided with political deliberations on the “organisation of rail infrastructure” bill, which resulted in Parliament giving its backing to integrated rail, calling it a sustainable success story for public transport in Switzerland. During her time in the role, Kathrin Amacker created a comprehensive and trailblazing sustainability strategy for SBB, and Kathrin recently substantiated SBB’s ambition to be climate-neutral by 2030.

Both SBB’s board of directors and management board would like to thank Kathrin Amacker for her great commitment over a number of years and wish her all the best in her future professional life.

From 1 April, Bernhard Meier, Kathrin Amacker’s previous deputy, will serve as Acting Head of Communications, Policy and Sustainability.
