SBB to make Management Board younger and stronger with two proven managers.

SBB will have two divisions dedicated to passenger services—Passenger Services Markets and Passenger Services Production. Véronique Stephan will take charge of Passenger Services Markets, while Passenger Services Production will be headed by Linus Looser. The SBB Board of Directors has named both Stephan and Looser as new members of the Management Board. They will take over from Toni Häne, who has been Head of Passenger division since early 2018 and is set to retire at the end of April.

Véronique Stephan is currently Chief Commercial Officer of Corplex. She will take control of the Passenger Services Markets division on 1 June 2021 at the latest. Linus Looser is currently Head of Railway Production at SBB and a member of the Passenger division management team. He will lead the Passenger Services Production division from 1 May 2021.

Monika Ribar, Chair of the SBB Board of Directors, said, “I am delighted that, in Véronique, we have managed to attract a person with proven commitment who has acquired a great deal of market and management experience during a career that has covered several sectors and cultural environments. She will bring a valuable external perspective to the company and enrich the Management Board with her new insights.” Of Looser, Ribar said that a youthful manager with a wealth of experience in several areas related to passenger services would be taking charge of Passenger Services Production. “He relates very strongly to the topic of rail, and has shown this in tackling a number of challenges while working at SBB. The Board of Directors wishes both new members of the Management Board great success in their respective roles.”

The decision to develop passenger services into two divisions is down to the great variety of issues that this area encompasses. These range from meeting the operational challenges of passenger services and addressing demanding topics such as fleet procurement and the planning of new maintenance plants, to issues such as increasing digitalisation, market changes as well as structuring prices and product ranges in cooperation with the entire public-transport sector. CEO Vincent Ducrot said, “By creating the two new divisions, and choosing Véronique and Linus to head them, we are putting ever great emphasis on our core business—rail—and on a very high degree of customer orientation”.

Stephan studied Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen and Law at the University of Geneva. She is 51 years of age and will relocate to Switzerland from the United Kingdom for her new role.

Linus Looser is currently Head of the Railway Production unit at SBB and is a member of the SBB Passenger division management team.
