Geneva Cornavin is one of the top ten busiest stations.
Geneva Cornavin is one of the top ten busiest stations in Switzerland.
115,000 people travel, eat and walk in this station every day. By 2030, this number will have doubled, particularly after the opening of the Franco-Valdo-Genevan RER, which will connect Geneva with the neighbouring part of France.
Geneva Cornavin station is ideally situated. Just a short train ride away from Geneva International Airport, which welcomes 14 million passengers per year, Geneva Cornavin is the main Swiss station serviced by TGV Lyria trains (up to 8 Geneva–Paris return services daily and 3 Geneva–Mediterranean return services) and it also boasts direct connections to the most popular destinations in Switzerland. Geneva Cornavin station is the transport hub for the entire city and the entire region. Refurbishment of the station, which began in 2010, is now complete and around 40 shops have opened their doors. A range of high-quality services such as a business centre (SBB Businesspoint), a first-class and international lounge and ultra-modern luggage lockers are all available for customers.
The new Geneva Cornavin officially opened on 18 September 2014 and will be the flagship station of the entire Franco-Valdo-Genevan RER project. This will cover a total of 230 km of cross-border lines upon the opening of the new Cornavin–Eaux-Vives–Annemasse (CEVA) line in 2019.
