SBB is committed to dialogue, and the Communications Unit gives the company its voice, face and image.

The work of the Communications Unit is interdivisional, leading both internal and external communication and advising the other SBB business units. Through integrated communications bringing the different threads together in the newsroom, our messages to employees, customers and the media always come from one source.

The Communications Unit is also responsible for public relations, maintaining dialogue with all relevant stakeholders, as well as coordinating relationships with the Swiss Confederation (the owner of SBB), the authorities, associations and external partners.

Another responsibility of the Communications Unit is to lead, cultivate, and protect the SBB brand. With its ‘live experiences’ it appeals to the emotions and highlights what makes SBB unique. The sustainability team is also a part of Communications. It manages SBB’s ecological, social, and economic sustainability, making it measurable and tangible in both operations and communications.

Head of Communications, Policy, Sustainability ad interim (since 2020)

Dr. rer. nat., for the study of Geography and Economics at the University of Bern. At SBB since 2007, firstly as Chief of Staff at SBB Cargo, and since 2009 as Delegate for Public Affairs, Regulation and International at Group level. Possesses a wide range of experience in political communication, policy and platform making, campaigns and collaborative research. Previously, he held the position of head of managerial staff for “public and mixed companies” at the DETEC General Secretariat, worked in the Canton of Bern’s Office for Spatial Planning and co-led several interdisciplinary research projects.
