Corporate development is an important aspect of the strategic management of the Group. It manages and assists with the content of the strategy process of SBB and its business units.
In addition, it provides support to the CEO and the Management Board in drafting and developing the Group's strategy based on integrated long-term plans from divisional and business area strategies, with the aim of optimising the Group. Corporate Development manages projects with particular importance to the further development of the SBB Group, with high strategic relevance, or with objectives which cross business areas. Furthermore, Corporate Development coordinates and develops Group-wide innovation management. Its activities also include the further development and coordination of strategic relationships with neighbouring countries' railways at Group level.
As part of Corporate Development, Organisational Development provides effective procedural and organisational structures to support various units in achieving their individual objectives, to exploit Group synergies and to optimise interactions across the Group as a whole.
Moreover, this area is responsible for the expansion and development of internal management consulting and for exploiting and retaining knowledge within SBB.
Cornelia Mellenberger (b. 1978, Swiss), Head of Corporate Development since 1 June 2014.
Lic.rer.pol., studied Business Administration and Economics at the Universities of Berne and Madrid. Has worked for SBB since 2009, initially as a Project Manager with SBB Consulting and more recently as the Head of Group Organisational Development. She was previously employed as a business consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked in public management both in Switzerland and abroad.
