Innovation, Research and Incubation.

As a result of SBB’s system relevance and comprehensive service offer (rail services, real estate and infrastructure), the company constitutes a breeding ground for innovation and creates opportunities for the private sector and researchers to test and implement innovations.

Moreover, SBB is of interest to researchers as a future employer. Incidentally, two thirds of all expenditure on research and development comes from private entities.

SBB has a dedicated innovation portfolio that is focused on its core business and derived directly from the current SBB strategy. We are combining our strengths in cooperation and ecosystems together with higher education institutions and universities, start-ups and established companies to develop the best solutions.

The Innovation, Research and Incubation unit is headed by Björn Bender and responsible for developing a leading integrated system of innovation that facilitates the research, exploration and development of new solutions in line with customer needs. The results of this work contribute to both current SBB products and new or future services, particularly with regard to customer friendliness, productivity, security and sustainability.

The management.

Nicolas Ecoffey

Head of Innovation, Research and Incubation (ad interim)
