140 trains run on the line between Geneva and La Plaine each day. Over the next 20 years, we anticipate a significant increase in the number of passengers who will be taking the train with you. This is why we need to increase capacity on this line, so that we can offer you more seating, greater travel comfort and improved access.

The Geneva–La Plaine project aims to meet future infrastructure requirements:

Extending the platforms.

• to accommodate longer trains
• in order to provide more seating.

Improving train stops.

• by making them more accessible,
• thereby prioritising mobility.

Travel comfort.

• at all train stops
• and their entrance zones.

• We are lengthening all platforms to 160 m;
• We are modernising the access and installations, creating step-free access;
• Finally, we are building new crossing points at Vernier and Meyrin.

The estimated cost is CHF 56 million (± 10%).

Funding is provided by the SBB service agreement and by the Canton of Geneva.
