2020 – completion of works and start of operations
At the moment, the parking area to the west of Lausanne station is incompatible with the extension to the station platforms. In fact, the Paleyres area to the east is not big enough to take 400-metre trains.
This is why we would like to extend the two existing tracks and create an additional track for stationing mainline trains.
We are creating three 400-metre sidings that will enable long-distance trains to be parked;
We are widening the Montolivet road underpass to four lanes;
We are also widening the railway platform and building a retaining wall to the south of the existing tracks.
We are working on these measures as a priority because they are vital to the development of national and international railway services.
The estimated cost is CHF 36 million (± 10%)
2/3 of the funding is provided by the service agreement between SBB and the Swiss Confederation, while the remaining 1/3 will come from the high-speed routes.
