The separation of regional and national traffic between Geneva and Coppet thanks to the construction of a third track dedicated to regional services between Coppet and Geneva has enabled the provision of a half-hourly service between Coppet and Geneva since December 2004 (1st stage of Rail 2000).

The capacity of the regional line between Coppet and Geneva has now reached saturation point. To cope with the increase in passengers, there are plans to introduce a quarter-hourly service. This will first be introduced at peak times in June 2018 before being rolled out for the whole day in December 2018.
