Near-complete suspension of services at Lausanne station on the weekend of 20 and 21 March 2021.
To improve transport services in the Lake Geneva area, we are carrying out various network improvement works.
From 2am on Saturday 20 March to 2am on Monday 22 March, we will put the Lausanne station interlockings into service. This installation is crucial for fluid and reliable traffic management.
The renovation of this centrepiece of rail traffic management (used for managing signalling and points) will help make the timetable more stable.
While we are putting it into service over the weekend, Lausanne station will be served only by a very limited number of trains.
The video below will give you an overview of the changes to your usual services over this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday daytime and the night of Sunday 21 to Monday 22 March:
Every hour, only two trains will run through Lausanne station as opposed to around 20 normally. With the exception of these two trains per hour per direction, running through Lausanne from Renens to Vevey, no trains will serve Lausanne station.
The night of Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 March:
A replacement bus service will be put in place to allow you to travel while services are suspended.
We advise you to avoid travelling by train where possible over the weekend of 20-21 March 2021. Though a replacement service will be provided, only very limited rail services will be in operation between Saturday morning and Monday morning.
Instead of running twice an hour, the InterRegio running between Geneva Airport and Brig (IR 90) will only run once an hour. The non-stop direct service between Geneva and Lausanne will be suspended. The train calling at Nyon and Morges will be maintained and will run at the time of the suspended direct service. Between Vevey and Visp, a special train running from Fribourg to Visp via Romont, Palézieux and Vevey will replace the second hourly IR 90 service.
The Annemasse–St-Maurice RegioExpress (RE) will be suspended. A partial replacement for this service will be provided by a special train running once an hour between Geneva Airport and Fribourg calling at Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey, Palézieux and Romont.
The InterCity running between Geneva Airport and St. Gallen (IC 1) calling at Lausanne, Fribourg, Bern and Zurich will be suspended between Geneva Airport and Fribourg. The InterRegio running between Geneva Airport and Lucerne (IR 15) calling at Lausanne, Palézieux, Romont, Fribourg and Bern will be suspended between Geneva Airport and Fribourg.
Passengers should use the special train running once an hour between Geneva Airport and Fribourg calling at Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey, Palézieux and Romont. Customers wishing to travel to Bern are strongly advised to use trains on the foot of the Jura route and travel via Neuchâtel.
Rail services on this route will not be affected by the works. The InterCity running between Geneva Airport and Zurich (IC 5) calling at Morges, Yverdon-les-Bains, Neuchâtel and Bienne will follow its normal timetable. There will be two trains an hour instead of one between Yverdon-les-Bains and Geneva Airport, as the IC 5 which normally terminates at Lausanne will be diverted.
The InterCity running between Lausanne and Zurich and St. Gallen (IC 5) calling at Yverdon-les-Bains, Neuchâtel and Bienne will be suspended between Lausanne and Yverdon-les-Bains. Towards the Lake Geneva area from Yverdon-les-Bains, instead of terminating at Lausanne as usual, the IC 5 will run to/from Geneva Airport and call at Morges, Nyon and Geneva.
To link Fribourg, Romont and Palézieux to Valais in both directions, a special train will run between Fribourg and Visp avoiding Lausanne station, calling at Romont, Palézieux, Vevey, Montreux, Villeneuve, Aigle, Bex, Saint-Maurice, Martigny, Sion and Sierre.
