Traffic on the section between Lausanne and Renens is the densest in Western Switzerland. A variety of work is in progress in order to improve the capacity and frequency of the services we offer you.

At present, the Lausanne–Renens section has three tracks and is a real bottleneck. This is why we are working to improve the infrastructure by adding a fourth track, which will accommodate:

• The increase in traffic, allowing more long-distance and regional services to run.
• Trains every 15 minutes on the RER Vaud (Cully–Cossonay).

• We are creating a fourth track between Lausanne and Renens;
• We are also connecting it to Lausanne and Renens stations;
• We will coordinate these works with other SBB projects: renewal of the interlocking system, Léman underpass, flyover (railway viaduct between Prilly-Malley and Renens), extension of the platforms in Lausanne, compliance of the station approaches and improvement of access to the trains at Renens station;
• Finally, we are renewing all the existing track installations between Renens and Lausanne.

The estimated cost is CHF 130 million.
