The safety and traffic management installations (interlocking systems) have reached the end of their lives and must be replaced by 2021.

These installations need to be renewed before Lausanne rail station can be extended. The safety installations and signalling equipment will be completely renewed.

The project covers the area from the "pont du Languedoc" bridge in the east to La Conversion and Pully.

This is a priority for improving national and regional rail services

• We are replacing the Lausanne interlocking system and management of centralised operations at the Operations Centre West;
• We are constructing a service building to the east of the station;
• We are also building a cable tunnel measuring 625 m in length in order to connect the station’s east and west terminuses and to enable extensions/modifications of the track layout.

The estimated cost is CHF 89 million.
