Testing laboratory for running characteristics.

For both new approvals of railway vehicles and changes to existing vehicle components, extensive testing is required to ensure safe operation.

This is why we work to compile expert reports on vehicle dynamics and offer the necessary measurement and testing services.

Our range of services at a glance.

As an accredited testing laboratory for the approval of running characteristics of railway vehicles (STS 0508 in accordance with SN EN ISO 17025:2018), we assist manufacturers, operators and maintenance providers in ensuring that rail vehicles are approved safely and in compliance with the SN EN 14363 standard, taking into account the regulations specific to Switzerland (RTE 29001, I-50007 (vehicle behaviour in switches) and I-50127 (testing zone 5)). We conduct tests, measurements and assessments to ensure optimal running characteristics and safe vehicle behaviour during normal operation.

We also conduct track inspections using specially equipped diagnostics vehicles as well as onboard monitoring.

  • Vehicle dynamics testing for rail vehicles (approval testing)
  • Vehicle response measurements for track clearance and inspection (vehicle/track interaction)
  • Optimisation tests (component and componentry tests)
  • Ride comfort tests in accordance with SN EN 12299 (standard procedure)
  • Formulation of testing specifications
  • Formulation of test reports
  • Commentary on test reports
  • Wheel profile and contact geometry examination
  • Expertise in onboard monitoring

Integrated solutions.

We carry out the complete planning and execution process for the test programme. This includes selecting suitable test routes, providing rolling stock and locomotive crew, obtaining permits, organising measurement runs, managing vehicle loading and more.
