12-month internship not required.
Up to now, universities of applied sciences have always required qualified professional experience of at least twelve months for their bachelor’s degree programmes. This is precisely where the work-study bachelor’s degree programme comes in, combining work experience and theory. This means that there is no need to have done an internship beforehand and you will be able to apply the theory you have learnt in practice on an ongoing basis.
Basic training.
During the first year, you will follow a modular self-study course of basic training with us. You decide what speed you wish to work at and our team of practical instructors will provide you with specialist support. Once you have completed basic training, you will have the IT basics which you need to get off to a successful start in the rotation mode.
Rotation mode.
Once you have successfully completed basic training, you will become part of a scrum team in the digital zone. SBB Information Technology consists of 1,500 employees who work in varied scrum teams on exciting topics in mobility and digitalisation. You decide what focus you would like to have and you spend the rest of your training rotating through the digital zone in periods of six to twelve months. In doing so, you get to know the extensive world of SBB Information Technology, expand your network and discover your passion.
Introductory programme.
Before studies begin in September, we take you through an introductory programme in Java (backend programming) and HTML/CSS (frontend programming).
Remuneration.
You will be involved in innovative projects or work on conceptual topics, taking on tasks which involve responsibility. We remunerate you fairly for these exciting activities with CHF 2,850 per month (salary for full-time employment).
Individual support with People Leader.
For the entire training period, you will be provided with personal and in-depth support and guidance by your personal manager (People Leader). The aim here is to make the best use of your strengths and to help you to achieve goals which are tailored to who you are.
Benefits.
During the entire training period, you have the benefit of a 2nd class GA Travelcard. Up to the age of 20, you can enjoy six weeks of holidays. In addition to the standard holidays, you will have one week of learning holiday per semester, so that you can prepare for the exams. You can also benefit from your own choice of additional educational opportunities, such as language courses, stays abroad or specific IT certificate courses. Thanks to the fact that you will be assigned to various departments within SBB-IT, you will be able to build up a large network.
Secure a permanent position.
Having successfully completed your work-study Bachelor’s degree, you will have good chances of finding a permanent position with SBB.
