Revised Swiss standard SN 506 512 Element-based Building Cost Classification in Civil Engineering eBKP-T.

The competent standardisation committee has reviewed Swiss standard SN 506 512 and made various amendments. The standard is used at SBB as a mandatory standard in BIM projects.

Various professional groups and the most important associations and organisations in civil engineering are represented in the standardisation committee: VVS, SBV, INFRA Suisse, suisse ing, FGU, BK Tunnel, SIA, BSLA, ASTRA, SBB and KIK. They contributed their current needs and requirements from building practice and, on this basis, revised the standard SN 506 512 and its user manual.

The key changes at a glance:

  • Adaptation and optimisation of the items covering building land, preparation for civil engineering, earthworks/specialised civil engineering, underground construction, construction of engineering structures, envelope expansion, traction wire construction, track, operations/safety installations, equipment and planning costs for the model-based determination of quantities and costs (both with and without BIM)
  • Adaptation and optimisation of the explanations and reference parameters for the elements
  • Harmonisation of standard eBKP-T with standard eBKP-H
  • Harmonisation of the code format with eBKP-H (A 1.1 → A01.01)
  • Translation of the reference parameters A and B into English; uniform abbreviation (reference code) in English
  • Harmonisation of standard eBKP-T with standard SIA 115 “Costs in building construction”
