Green is the new grey! Many paved areas are now completely or at least partially unpaved and blooming. Whether between the buildings, in the car park or on the roofs and building exteriors, small ecological niches have been created everywhere, serving as habitats for flora and fauna.
The available structures serve as sources of food or places to live, thereby supporting native birds and various insects such as butterflies, bees, beetles and other small creatures.
An initial interim assessment by Bern University of Applied Sciences confirms that the newly remodelled areas and elements are adding ecological value to the area around Delémont railway station.
