Management Board.

This is the SBB Management Board. It has nine members, who are chosen by the Board of Directors. 

They are each responsible for the operational management of their area of responsibility. The following table provides information on the structure and function of the Management Board.

Vincent Ducrot (1962)

CEO & Chairman of the Management Board (since 2020)

Graduate of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in electrical engineering, postgraduate technical business alumnus at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), Certified Projects Director IPMA Level A, past holder of various positions at SBB AG and previously managing director of Transports publics fribourgeois.

Reto Liechti (1980)

Interim Head of Passenger Services Production

Reto Liechti holds a master’s degree in Strategy and Organisation from the University of St. Gallen and has completed further training at IMD and Stanford University. Since 2009 he has held various positions at SBB, and was most recently Head of Railway Production and a member of divisional management in Passenger Services Production.

Véronique Stephan (1969)

Head of Passenger Services Markets (since 2021)

Véronique Stephan studied Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen and Law at the University of Geneva. Before joining SBB, she worked as Chief Commercial Officer at Corplex in the United Kingdom, Vice President Commercial at Ball Packaging Europe and Sales & Business Development Director at Johnson & Johnson.

Beatrice Bichsel (1981)

Head of Real Estate (since 2023)

Beatrice Bichsel is a lawyer and holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen. She has worked at SBB since 2011, including as Head of Legal, Compliance and Procurement and most recently as Head of Facility Management. Both positions were at SBB Real Estate.

Linus Looser (1980)

Head of Infrastructure (since 2025)

Linus Looser holds a master’s degree in Management and Economics from the University of Zurich and has completed further training at the University of St. Gallen. Since 2007 he has held various positions at SBB, and was most recently Head of Railway Production and a member of divisional management in Passenger Division.

Franz Steiger (1972)

Chief Financial Officer (since 2021)

Franz Steiger is a Swiss certified expert in accounting and controlling. After obtaining a master’s degree in Corporate Finance, he completed an EMBA at the University of Zurich. Before taking on his position as CFO and member of the Management Board, he was a member of Real Estate divisional management from 2017 and headed up the Finance Unit. Franz Steiger previously held senior financial positions in manufacturing and service companies (including Siemens and Hertz), most recently as Head of Transformation and Digitalization at Switzerland Global Enterprises.

Adi Bucher (1977)

Head of Human Resources (since 2025)

Adi Bucher studied Industrial and Organisational Psychology, with Business Studies as his subsidiary subject. He holds a master’s degree in Human Resources Leadership from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich and gained a further qualification in Leading Change and Organisational Renewal from Harvard Business School. Before joining SBB, Adi Bucher was head of HR and Organisational Development at Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB). He had previously held various management positions in HR at Swisscom (Switzerland) AG.

Jochen Decker (1971)

Chief Information Officer (CIO) (since 2021)

Biochemistry and business graduate, holds a PhD in molecular immunology. At SBB since 2008, member of the SBB Information Technology Management Board since 2011. Until 2015, as Head of IT Operation Management, he was responsible for the operation of IT systems and the management and further development of the IT sourcing landscape. From 2015 onwards, Jochen Decker was Head of the Digitalisation and Architecture unit. In this role, among other achievements, he shaped SBB’s digitalisation process. Before moving to SBB, Jochen Decker advised companies in the transport and logistics sectors on strategic use of IT.

Alexander Muhm (1977)

Head of Freight Services (since 2023)

Alexander Muhm holds a PhD in Technical Sciences and an Executive MBA in General Management. He has worked at SBB since 2009. Before assuming his position as Head of Freight Services, Alexander Muhm was already a member of the Management Board as Head of Real Estate from 2019.
