The Finance Department is responsible for the financial management of SBB and its subsidiaries.
The department ensures that the Group has uniform accounting principles and consolidated actual and target figures. It procures and manages financial resources and is responsible for controlling investments and holdings at Group level. It is also responsible for tax matters and central insurance management.

Franz Steiger is a Swiss certified expert in accounting and controlling. After obtaining a master’s degree in Corporate Finance, he completed an EMBA at the University of Zurich. Before taking on his position as CFO and member of the Management Board, he was a member of Real Estate divisional management from 2017 and headed up the Finance Unit. Franz Steiger previously held senior financial positions in manufacturing and service companies (including Siemens and Hertz), most recently as Head of Transformation and Digitalization at Switzerland Global Enterprises.
