After graduating as an electrical engineer with a focus on IT at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, he also followed a postgraduate course in technical business at the Business Institute of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and a certification course in portfolio management (Certified Portfolio Director IPMA Level A). He also completed the further training programme OWP (Orchestrating winning performance) at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne.
Vincent Ducrot’s professional career started in 1986 as an IT specialist in various positions in Switzerland and abroad (Europe and the USA).
In 1993, Ducrot started working in the rail traffic field as head of the software development unit at Swiss Federal Railways. From 1997 to 2002, he was SBB’s delegate to Expo.02.
From 1999 to 2010, as head of the long-distance services unit, he was responsible for developing and implementing the transport strategy for long-distance routes on the Swiss rail network. That included the implementation of the first stage of Rail 2000, with entry into service in December 2004, the New Rail Link through the Alps project and the new Lötschberg mountain route, including the 34.6km long base tunnel, which opened in June 2007.
Internationally, he worked on the creation of Lyria, which provides the TGV connection between France and Switzerland.
From 2009 to 2010, he served in parallel as acting head of the Passenger Division.
At the start of July 2011, Ducrot was appointed managing director of Transports publics fribourgeois. He transformed TPF into a holding, modernised the infrastructure and implemented important technological innovations.
On 10 December 2019, the SBB Board of Directors announced the nomination of Vincent Ducrot as CEO.
