Building Information Modelling – BIM.

BIM digitalises planning, construction and management. It is a method SBB intends to put into operation in stages for real estate and railway infrastructure for the period to 2025.

This is BIM.

BIM stands for Building Information Modelling. BIM is a holistic way of working which emphasises cooperation, collaboration and communication – thanks to the use of digital technologies. This means all those involved in the process can record, edit, check and access the information they need at one central location. Duplication of work and loss of information are minimised.

SBB is pioneering the use of the BIM method for real estate from 2021 and for infrastructure facilities from 2025. SBB is therefore actively advancing the goals of the Federal Council, which are set out in its digital strategy.
