BIM stands for Building Information Modelling.

BIM is a holistic way of working that focuses on cooperation, collaboration and communication – with the use of digital technologies. This means that everyone involved in the construction process can record, edit, check and access the information they need at one central location. Duplication of work and loss of information are minimised.

The type of training and further education you need depends heavily on your role in the project. SBB does not require any specific training or further education in order to apply the BIM method and process BIM tasks for SBB. 

However, anyone working with the BIM method must be open to new, object-oriented processes and procedures for generating models, data and information. You need in-depth technical knowledge, especially if you are modelling or checking the quality of data.

The documents for preparing an offer for SBB are basically the same as for other clients and similar to the documents for a conventional project. However, contractors must take additional documents and the costs incurred for BIM into account when submitting an offer.
