Passenger attendant: on the move around the whole of Switzerland.

Do you love interacting with people? Our paid secondary training courses as a passenger attendant will make you the face of SBB – two training courses can be completed on a part-time basis at 50% or 60%.

The face of SBB.

You make a huge contribution to safety and passenger comfort. Depending on which area you work in, you make information announcements, provide face-to-face information, inspect trains to ensure they are clean and fit for service, inspect tickets, survey passenger numbers, provide assistance when there are disruptions and implement safety standards.

Find the right path for you.

We all have many diverse capabilities. Some of us are good with people and keep our cool in hectic situations, while others are more interested in the technical side of things and enjoy working precisely. And people have different preferences when it comes to working hours too. While some are looking for a full-time job, others prefer part-time work. To give everyone a chance to use their skills individually at SBB, we offer different versions of the job. All versions come with attractive benefits and development opportunities. What’s more, you will receive full pay while you are training.

Part-time training as a passenger attendant.

We offer a twelve-month paid part-time training scheme at 60% in Zurich. The secondary training course begins with two block weeks. You then develop theoretical and practical knowledge during the rest of the training period, normally over three full days a week: the dates on which you have to attend teaching for theoretical subjects at the training centre in Zurich, which always takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, and the exam dates are provided a year in advance. During the training programme, you will also have irregular customer-facing practical training shifts in the early morning, in the evening and at the weekend. That means your work days will vary each week. To make it easy for you to plan your family and leisure time, we let you know when you will be working no later than one month in advance.

You complete your secondary training by taking a test. In the consolidation phase which follows, you will be made fit to work as a passenger attendant. Once you have successfully completed your training, you can freely determine your workload; you can join us from 40%. You work throughout Switzerland and in irregular shifts. In agreement with your superiors, you can set regular days off if working part-time.

Part-time training as a passenger attendant for frequency surveys.

We offer a paid, four-month part-time training programme with a 50% workload in Zurich. As a passenger attendant for frequency surveys, you will be in direct contact with our passengers and determine their travel habits. You are the face of SBB: As a courteous host or hostess, you give passengers on the train your attention, accompanied by a friendly smile – whether early in the morning or late at night. You ask our passengers about their route and the tickets they use so that SBB can analyse their travel habits. You record the data they provide on an electronic device.

In this position, you work 50 percent of full-time hours and are not responsible either for issuing fines or safety-related duties. This allows you to concentrate fully on the needs of the passengers. You complete the training by taking an exam. After successful completion, you will be ready to fulfil your tasks in cooperation with colleagues from different areas of the company. You can work as a passenger attendant for frequency surveys anywhere in Switzerland. The start and end of your assignments are always at the same location, which allows you to plan ahead.
