Wide-ranging and comprehensive: start your career in the energy sector at SBB.
As a career starter in energy, you’ll learn all about renewable energy supply and its systems at SBB. There are three possible areas of work where you’ll perform various tasks, from planning and project management to the production of studies and simulations.
Design.
Long-term planning of expansion work, studies and projects to ensure smooth interaction of all systems from reservoirs to locomotives.
Build.
The construction and expansion of power plants, high-voltage lines and sub-stations at the interface between cutting-edge technology and components up to 100 years old.
Run.
Operation and maintenance of the highly dynamic network, including energy trading, network optimisation and redundancy planning to provide inexpensive, fail-safe energy supply.
As a career starter, you’ll take on challenging tasks and play a key role in specific projects during two training placements. During this period, you’ll be part of the team, and will also get the opportunity to interact with other career starters and trainees.
Various training placements are available in the areas of ‘Projects & Engineering’, ‘Dimensioning and System Management’ and ‘Energy Operations’, providing knowledge and experience of the energy environment over a 12-month period.
Around 20 percent of the time is available for a general programme where you learn about other areas of energy and SBB as a whole. You can also attend specials and methodology-related training courses.
Start and duration.
The programme starts in April and lasts 12 months. You can decide on your level of employment (between 60 and 100 percent). This means you enjoy enough leisure time outside of work.
You will hold a university degree, ideally in electrical/mechanical/structural/environmental engineering, physics, IT or maths and you’ll have a strong interest in energy-related topics. You grasp new things quickly and are highly motivated to learn. You’re an inquisitive person with strong team skills which is why you always focus on achieving goals together. Your analytical and conceptual abilities will help you to implement solutions.
Remuneration.
You’ll receive an attractive full-time starting salary of CHF 80,000 a year.
Benefits.
You’ll get a 2nd class GA Travelcard and five weeks’ holiday for the entire training period. You can also take advantage of additional individual training programmes, such as language courses, time abroad and specific certifications.
How you benefit.
Over the course of your various training placements, you’ll gain knowledge and experience in your chosen specialist field and apply it directly. You’ll also complete our introduction programme with the opportunity to expand your specialist knowledge in specific courses.
