You’ll spend the final six months in your target department. The ‘Development and Service Center’ (ESC) develops and operates software solutions for the Timetable and Operations unit. Here you’ll take on an agile role bit by bit, e.g. product owner, scrum master or product manager.

Over the entire 18 months, you’ll be part of the agile ‘talent squad’ at Timetable and Operations in addition to your placements. Together with our young talents, you learn the SAFe working principles and support other ESC teams in their exciting projects. You’ll learn a huge amount: from software development and marshalling yards to UX topics. 

20% of your time is available for training and on-site visits. For example, our career starters can accompany the engine drivers and train crew for a day, experience a 24-hour shift with Intervention (the ‘SBB fire brigade’) or complete a night shift at a marshalling yard. 

You will pave the way for your future career by obtaining an overview of the profession, developing a strong network and acquiring knowledge about the tasks, processes and functions throughout the entire timetable value chain.

Start and duration.

The programme starts in April and September and lasts 18 months. You can decide on your level of employment (between 60 and 100 percent). This means you enjoy enough leisure time outside of work.

The Career Starter programme for ‘Timetable and Operations’ is aimed at ambitious university graduates with a degree (university/university of applied sciences, Bachelor/Master level) in science, IT, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering or physics/maths. 

You have a strong interest in the rail system and mobility of the future. You grasp new concepts quickly, are highly motivated to learn and possess strong analytical and methodological skills. You stand out with your winning appearance and team-player qualities. You enjoy working independently and tackling new challenges.  You’re keen to contribute new ideas to your team and projects and to challenge existing concepts.

Remuneration.

You’ll receive an attractive full-time starting salary of CHF 80,000 a year.

How you benefit.

Over the course of your various training placements, you’ll gain knowledge and experience in your chosen specialist field and apply it directly. You’ll also complete our introduction programme with the opportunity to expand your specialist knowledge in specific courses.

Coaching.

A personal coach will accompany you throughout your Career Starter Programme and help you to settle in at the company, to choose the best training programmes and to find the right placements for you.

Network building.

As you will be working on projects in various departments, you will be able to build up a large network and become part of the SBB Young Talents community.

Permanent position.

The Career Starter programme will have you perfectly prepared for a permanent position at SBB.
