The programme offers you the unique opportunity to gain an understanding for and experience working with the timetable over 18 months. You will acquire substantial rail expertise during your Career Starter programme on the various placements, courses and workshops.

You’ll gain an insight into the key areas of Timetable and Operations during the first 12 months. You will complete three four-month placements in various teams. You’ll start with operational management which is responsible for the operations centres where rail services are managed and controlled in real time. Then you’ll move onto the timetable team which designs the timetables and plans construction work on a short-term and long-term basis. Finally, you’ll learn about business management which involves the long-term strategic organisation of the Timetable and Operations unit.
