The public authorities plan to implement measures to enable capacity on the Lausanne–Geneva Airport line to be expanded by 2025. The project "Denges–Morges: third track" is currently underway.
It allows freight trains to enter and leave Lausanne marshalling yard without disrupting the flow of passenger trains, thus making rail services more stable and allowing them to flow more smoothly.
The creation of a third track into Morges station and the installation of several switches on the section mean that it will be possible to put into operation the new services planned for between now and 2030. The aim of these upgrades is to improve the flow of traffic and offer you greater travel comfort.
- Absorb the number of passenger trains sharing the line with you.
- Regulate goods transported between Lausanne and Geneva Airport.
- Removing the Renens-Bussigny-Morges bottleneck.
- Separate long-distance and regional traffic (in the medium term).
