The safety and traffic management installations (interlocking systems) had reached the end of their lives. Renewing these installations was a precondition for the expansion of Lausanne rail station.
These modifications required the adaptation of signalling equipment and rail installations. This was the first project completed under the Léman 2030 banner and, for the most part, met our expectations. The new installations were placed in service in November 2016.
The renewal of the interlocking systems at Renens is linked to the redevelopment of the Lausanne hub (fourth track between Lausanne and Renens, flyover, Renens station).
This was a priority for improving national and regional rail services.
